For sure, Dwellnought’s Italian roots are on display with the rustic doom rumble underpinning their ruined ruminations. However, the quartet’s songwriting drifts off into dread landscapes and cosmic horrors not unlike the Australian vanguard of blackened doom ala Elysian Blaze and Ill Omen or the more deathened end of such, such as Grave Upheaval and Temple Nightside. It goes without saying that their sound is literally MASSIVE.
The element of ephemerality is expressed in the form through which the sound waves want to express themselves, creating an utterly absorbing, overwhelming experience. As such, Monolith of Ephemerality unfolds as a sonic ritual: slow movements of crushing matter, blackened currents eroding the surface, noise interludes as evocation. Each passage reinforces the illusion of stability while accelerating into eerie dissolution.
