AARA premiere full album stream

Ahead of official release on December 6th, Swiss Black Metal band AARA has partnered with Black Metal Promotion to unveil a full stream of their forthcoming sixth album. „Eiger“ depicts the harrowing true story of a doomed mountaineering expedition and its icy melodies, pensive moods and vibrant plummets contrast the wonderment of the natural world with a heightened sense of existential horror.

Aara – Eiger (Full Album Premiere)

Composer and guitarist Berg reflects on the album’s concept: „The album refers to the beginnings of mountaineering in the Swiss Alps, in particular to the relationship between man and nature and the fascination of taking great risks in order to reach a goal that may or may not have been set. Mountaineering has no added value in the context of the general public, it is only the inner restlessness of people who want to take this risk for themselves, to go where no one has gone before. To dare to look into the unknown. At the heart of the album is the story of the attempt to climb the Eiger North Face in 1936. The Eiger had already been climbed several times in the 19th century, but only from the west and south. The north face was not climbed until the beginning of the 20th century, and most attempts were fatal. The tragic outcome of the 1936 ascent can hardly be surpassed.

I think many people are fascinated by the mountains. For some they are a source of relaxation, for others a place of spirituality and for others a place of identification, with a particular region or with feelings. When you live in a country that is largely made up of mountains, your life is automatically linked to them in one way or another. Fluss and I love to spend time in the mountains, even though it is unfortunately not possible to live directly in the regions in question, as life in Switzerland revolves mainly around the cities and densely populated areas.“
