DOMKRAFT release first single & details of enhanced reissue of Domkraft

Swedish psychedelic doom masters DOMKRAFT reveal ‚The Bane‘ as an advance single from their reissue of the 2015 self-titled EP „Domkraft“, which has been upgraded to an album with two new unreleased tracks. The „Domkraft“ release is scheduled for June 272025.

DOMKRAFT comment on the single: „We originally wrote ‚The Bane‘ for the ‚Planet of Doom‘ movie soundtrack“, Martin Wegeland explains. „It was the first time that we composed within a pre-determined framework, which was a stimulating challenge. It worked out surprisingly well compared to how we usually structure our songs. It is also one of the heavier tracks that we have ever done. As it was recorded in between ‚Flood and Seeds‘, it has one leg in each album cycle, which I think is quite audible. Plus, this is the very first time that we’ve ever sung about dragons.“

DOMKRAFT discuss the reissue: „2025 marks the 10-year anniversary of the very first Domkraft release, our self-issued and seltf-titled EP“, singer and bass player Martin Wegeland writes. „Only 250 copies were printed that have been sold out for many years. The time felt right to do a re-release and combine the four original tracks with two new and unreleased songs to make it an album experience. We’ve been on the fence about reissuing the EP as there is a certain beauty to something not being widely available anymore. Yet those songs still make their way into our sets from time to time, so it makes sense for people to be able to get them on physical media. Funny story; the entire original recording was more or less improvised over a weekend. We just had the riffs and a loose idea of how they would fit together, meaning that the different takes on each song could vary from five minutes to fifteen plus. I think the versions that made it are the middle ground ones. To us, it is still a cool release and hard to pigeonhole due to its unhinged nature.“

When the self-released and self-titled „Domkraft“ EP came out in 2015, it was for many the first sign of life from the Swedes. That the 250 original copies sold out quickly is a testament to the strong appeal of the fuzz-driven, psychedelic riff-doom cosmos that DOMKRAFT created right from the start. And it just kept growing over the course of 10 years, four albums, two EPs, and a live record.

Their musical journey has navigated the galactic psyche and into alternate metaphysical realities in search of escape, respite, and release. Although DOMKRAFT have generally stayed true to the direction of their musical course with every new release, the Nordic trio has also constantly evolved, audibly matured, and sharpened their writing skills. On latest full-length „Sonic Moons“ (2023), their trademark towering doom anthems remain, but with an ever so slight shift toward heavy rock through small tweaks and nuances.

DOMKRAFT were conceived when singer and bassist Martin Wegeland, guitarist Martin Widholm, and drummer Anders Dahlgren bonded over a mutual love of bands such as SPACEMEN 3, MONSTER MAGNET, SLEEP, and HAWKWIND. Drawing from the heaviest of their combined influences, they crafted a sound that blends monolithic dirges, mind-bending psychedelia, and hypnotic minimalism, as embodied by DOMKRAFT’s massive 2016 first album „The End of Electricity“, the crushing 2018 follow-up „Flood“ and the acclaimed and massively amplified third and fourth full-lengths „Seeds“ (2021) and „Sonic Moons“.

Over the course of the last decade, DOMKRAFT have established a reputation as a major live force and performed at prestigious festivals such as the Desertfests (BE and DE), Psycho Las Vegas (US), Blow Up (FI), Sonic Whip (NL), Ripplefest Texas (US), Hostsabbat (NO) and many others.

As a lovely anniversary offering for their dedicated and ever-growing following, DOMKRAFT finally reissue their much sought after debut EP that has been lovingly upgraded to a full-length album.
