NO/MÁS honor D.C. legends Bad Brains with new banned in D.C. covers EP

Fresh off the release of their new full-length album No Peace, Washington D.C. grindcore force NO/MÁS have returned with another furious offering — this time paying tribute to hometown legends Bad Brains.

Originally intended as an exclusive recording for Decibel Magazine’s Flexi Series, the band’s cover of Banned in D.C. quickly evolved into something more as they also tracked a live-recorded version of Attitude during the same recording session. Rather than leave the session behind, NO/MÁS compiled both songs into Banned in D.C., a two-song tribute EP honoring one of the most influential bands to ever emerge from the D.C. punk scene.

The EP was quietly released to the band’s Bandcamp followers within the last week and has now officially hit all major streaming services: Banned in D.C. | No/Más

Recorded completely live to preserve the raw spirit and urgency of the originals, the release serves as both homage and celebration of one of the band’s biggest influences.

The band explains: “Some of us fundamentally grew up listening to the Bad Brains. Growing up in the DMV, they were the first punk band that exposed us to that level of raw energy. It wasn’t just music to us — it was a way to be heard, understood, feel free, rage, and protest. That’s still how we feel today.”
