On August 7th internationally, Personal Records is proud to present thesecond album of Norway’s Horrifier, Revelations of Gore, on CD format.
Hailing from Norway, Horrifier have been vomiting pure, old-school brutality straight from the underground since 2022. Drawing inspiration from the legendary death metal bands of the late ’80s and early ’90s, the quartet channel the rotting sounds of Autopsy, the gnarly filth of Entombed, and the feral aggression of Repulsion.
Released in 2023 by Personal, Horrifier’s celebrated debut album, Horrid Resurrection, delivered uncompromising DEATH METAL built on crushing riffs, relentless drumming, and cavernous vocals that sound dragged up from the depths of the grave. No polish, no trends, and no modern gloss; only the raw stench of death metal the way it was meant to be: primitive, violent, and merciless. Horrifier’s sound here was putrid, aggressive, and relentlessly primitive, a putrid homage to the genre’s most savage roots.
Now, the Norwegians return with their second full-length, Revelations of Gore: a concept record steeped in death, desperation, and ritual slaughter. Horrifier’s second album follows a dying man who, standing at the edge of his final breath, encounters a monstrous entity offering him eternal life – but immortality demands a price… Driven by the fear of death, the man begins feeding the creature with human sacrifices in exchange for more time among the living. What starts as desperation slowly turns into obsession, as the line between survival and damnation fades beneath a growing pile of corpses.
Suitably, Horrifier musically illustrate this desperation & dementia with deft moves between relentless violence and suffocating darkness. Whilst retaining the band’s core sound, Revelations of Gore sees bludgeoning riffs and savage tempos colliding with slower, ominous passages that build a heavy atmosphere of dread and decay, mirroring the protagonist’s descent into madness. The production is predictably crushing and richly organic, staying true to the original ethos of the Metal of Death: No gimmicks. No mercy. Only DEATH.
