UK extreme metal group OUTERGODS has today shared their new single, Nothing But a Fetid Worm, and shared an accompanying guitar playthrough for the track. Nothing But a Fetid Worm is the second song to be taken from the Nottingham based band’s forthcoming debut album, A Kingdom Built Upon the Wreckage of Heaven, which is due for release via Prosthetic Records on September 1.
Speaking on the single release, guitarist Nathe Sinfield comments: „The instrumental aspect of this song came together quickly and because of that, I avoided overthinking it. I wanted a shorter, straight-to-the-point song which blended some elements of black metal, thrash, and noise. It’s also one of my favourite songs to play live at the moment.“
Vocalist Sam Strachan adds: „As soon as Nathe sent this one over I knew what it was going to be about. It was so fast, aggressive, and frantic and I wanted the vocals to feel like a ferocious attack. Lyrically, it’s about karma creeping up on terrible people and cutting said negative, toxic people out of your life. I always enjoy when lyrics are left open for the listener’s interpretation so I purposefully did that with this song.“
